BAYFIELD, WI (WTAQ) - A Bayfield woman is free on a signature bond, for allegedly causing a traffic crash that killed her two-year-old daughter and injured three other relatives.

23-year-old Chelsea Cadotte was charged Tuesday in Bayfield County with second-degree reckless homicide, and 3 counts of first-degree reckless injury.

Prosecutors said Cadotte was the only one wearing a restraint when her SUV went out of control and rolled over several times. It happened July 23rd north of Washburn on Highway 13.

The crash killed Cadotte’s 2-year-old daughter Mariah Gordon. 4-year-old Myley Gordon was in a coma at last word with a brain injury. 6-year-old Carter Gordon had a broken hip and leg. And Cadotte’s 15-year-old sister Erica Gonzalez had internal injuries and broken bones.

Media reports said Cadotte was cited twice in the past for not restraining her children in her SUV. She has waived the state’s time limit to hold her preliminary hearing.

Cadotte is due back in court November 13th, when the status of her case will be reviewed.
