RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) - Oneida County’s Board of Supervisors might make mining much more difficult. Supervisor Paul Dean plans to introduce a resolution at today’s meeting to make future exploration of minerals more difficult.
Many County Board members opposed recent mining proposals, but not all supervisors are likely to support Dean’s resolution. Supervisor Gary Baier is pushing for mining on county owned lands. He would like to change the committee structure to remove mining oversight from the Forestry, Land, and Outdoor Recreation Committee.
The Oneida County Board meeting begins at 9:30 in Rhinelander.
