GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) DC Everest football player Mitchell Boals is recovering in a Green Bay hospital from a life threatening injury suffered in last Friday nights playoff game at Bayport. He was injured when Bayport reciever Steve Minzlaff caught a touchdown pass late in the game and landed on top of Boals.
Boals was coughing up blood on the sideline and there was talk of him riding the bus back home and seeing a doctor then. Trainers decided he needed immediate attention and when he got to the hospital doctors discovered internal bleeding.
He had emergency surgery and a large amount of blood was found in his abdomen. Doctors say if he would have attempted to ride home before going to a hospital he probably would have died.
He is currently recovering at St. Vincent hospital but is expected to be released sometime this week.
