LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) - A Minnesota man is due back in court Thursday on charges that he killed a La Crosse man and his son while robbing the father’s camera store.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 39-year-old Jeffrey Lepsch of Dakota – and a judge will decide whether there’s enough evidence to order a trial.
Authorities said Lepsch shot and killed 56-year-old Paul Petras and his 19-year-old son A.J. on September 15th at May’s Photo in downtown La Crosse.
Lepsch also reportedly got away with $16,000 worth of camera equipment. Police said 14 items from the store were recovered at Lepsch’s home earlier this month.
Surveillance video from outside the store showed a man carrying bags of merchandise into a van matching the one found at the defendant’s house.
Lepsch is being held under a $2 million cash bond. He’s charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, plus felony counts of armed robbery by force and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
