Packers, Rodgers Close To Contract

GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) The Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers are said to be about two-million dollars a year apart on their contract offers. N-F-L-Dot-Com said the Packers are believed to be offering a deal that averages over 21-million dollars a year – higher than the 20-point-six-million given recently to Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco.

Packers’ president Mark Murphy says the team has the money to make Rodgers the highest-paid player in N-F-L history – and that’s what he expects. Rodgers has two years left on his current deal – and he’s scheduled to make just under 10-million in each of those seasons.

The N-F-L-Dot-Com report said Rodgers’ agent and the Packers disagree over how much of a raise he should get in the next two years. The report did not say how long of a deal is being sought. Previous reports have guessed 4-to-6 years. The longer the deal, the better the Packers are able to spread out the money so it can fit their salary cap.
