MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) - Merrill city leaders will be meeting tomorrow to pick a contractor to build the new fire station.
Mayor Bill Bialecki says the city received 9 bids to build the new fire barn. "We had some really competitive bids. We were expecting 3 million and the bids came in around 2.7 million." Bialecki says the number of bids is a good sign they'll find the right contractor for the job.
The city has been working to replace the ageing downtown fire station with a more modern version. The current location has been in use for over a century, and is no longer able to provide for the city the way it's supposed to.
Tuesday night's City Council hearing starts at 7 pm. Committee of the Whole starts at 5:30 pm.
