WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Tax Day is also the last day for Wisconsin Public Service customers to get current on their payments or face disconnection.
Spokeswoman Kelly Zagrzebski says about 5 percent of current customers face cut off utilities on April 15. "At least 25,000 are at least 4 months or more behind on their utility bill." The cut off day is set by the state in order to keep homes from not having heat during the winter months.
Zagrzebski says they'd much rather prefer people get set up with the company than cut them off. "They should contact WPS or their local utility to work out arrangements if they haven't done so already."
