CHICAGO, ILL (WSAU) The Milwaukee Brewers got some welcome rest last evening, when their game against the Cubs in Chicago was called off due to rain and below-freezing wind chills. They rode a bus back to Milwaukee, and will fly today to Saint Louis where the Crew will open a weekend series against the Cardinals tomorrow night.

The postponed game will be made up during a day-night double-header on July 30th. Outfielder Ryan Braun says the Brewers can use a two-day break. He says they haven’t been playing well – and nobody liked playing in Tuesday night’s cold-and-windy conditions at Wrigley Field when Milwaukee lost 6-to-3 to the Cubbies.

Manager Ron Roenicke said the weather probably would have been even worse last night, so he didn’t mind the postponement. It also gives several of the Brewers’ walking wounded some much needed rest – including Braun, who returned Monday after missing three games with neck spasms.

The Brewers plan to stick with their current pitching rotation. Right-hander Kyle Lohse, who was supposed to start last night, will start tomorrow night against the Cardinals’ team he left as a free agent.
