Janas trial delayed, new charges surface

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -  More problems have surfaced for the woman accused of poisoning and stabbing a dog in Wausau last summer. 20-year-old Sean Janas is already incarcerated awaiting trial for torturing her ex-boyfriend’s dog Mary. The trial was supposed to start May 1st, but it’s been delayed because of new evidence.

That evidence is from a different crime in a different county. Janas is also charged with stealing DVD’s and Blu Ray disks from a Walmart store in Germantown last October. The criminal complaint from Washington County claims Janas was caught on surveillance video placing nearly $1,600 worth of merchandise into a duffel bag, which was picked up by an accomplice.

Janas’ attorney filed a motion to move the dog torture trial or have an out-of-county jury brought to Wausau. There’s no decision on that motion yet. The four-day trial is now tentatively set to begin July 29th.

Janas remains in custody at the Marathon County Jail, unable to post a $2,500 cash bond.
