WEST ALLIS, WI (WTAQ) - The Milwaukee mother accused of locking her three small children in a bedroom, then leaving them unattended for hours, had been warned about doing that by authorities twice in the past.
Those children died in a fire last week.
Twenty-four year old Angelica Belen made a court appearance Wednesday to face three felony charges of child endangerment resulting in death.
Belen told investigators she knew she shouldn't leave them alone, but she couldn't find a babysitter and she had to go to work.
A faulty electrically connection in the home's kitchen is thought to have started the fire.
If convicted, Belen could get up to 75 years in prison.
