ST. PAUL, MN (WSAU) - The jailed husband of a woman that’s missing and presumed dead could face even tougher penalties than originally planned.
Kira Steger Trevino has been gone since February 24th, and authorities arrested her husband Jeffrey Trevino for homicide. Now, the Ramsey County Minnesota prosecutors want a tougher sentence if Jeffrey Trevino is convicted. That’s because officials believe he hid the body of the victim.
Several law enforcement agencies, family members, and volunteer groups have been searching for Kira Trevino and any evidence that may help solve the case. Another search is planned Saturday at Battle Creek Regional Park starting at 10 a.m. Volunteers will search the Bunker Hill Regional Park in Coon Rapids starting at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Jeffrey Trevino has a May 28th tentative trial date.
