Children's Author E.L. Konigsburg Has Died at 83

By Lisa Costantini, Hollywood Staff

Just as every good book has to have an ending, unfortunately so do those book's scribes: children's author E.L. Konigsburg has passed away at the age of 83. The famed writer behind 1968's beloved Newberry Medal winning book From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler died on April 19 according to Entertainment Weekly. The cause of death has yet to be released.

Konigsburg did something unprecendented in 1997 when she won her second Newberry Award (for The View From Saturday) 29 years after her first - making it the longest span of time for one author to win the prestigious award. The American author was also a talented illustrator with multiple young adult books to her name.

Konigsburg may be gone, but her books like From The Mixed-Up Files Of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler will live on for generations to come.
