Governor: trade mission to China a success

MADISON (WRN)  Governor Scott Walker says his trade mission to China helped get several agreements between Chinese and Wisconsin businesses signed. While many of those were already in the works, Walker says meeting personally with top officials, such as China’s president, had a tremendous impact on getting those deals finalized.

Speaking to reporters in Milwaukee Monday, Walker said one of the key agreements signed was a ten year deal with a major medicine company to distribute Wisconsin ginseng. The governor says that $200 million deal alone was worth the trip overseas.

The governor spent ten days in China, meeting with government officials and business leaders. He says one the more memorable stops was a visit to the opening of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership, where he was able to ride in on an 110th anniversary Fat Boy. Walker says he was impressed by the growing interest from the Chinese in Wisconsin-made products, and he believes the trade mission could lead to more economic benefits for the state in the future.
