We've been hearing about it for a while now, but American Idol season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez will finally make her debut on Glee this Thursday night. She'll play Frida Romero, a big-voiced sophomore who's the star member of a rival glee club from Indianapolis called Hoosierdaddies. It's not clear if Jessica will perform in this episode, however: no music featuring her has been released in advance.
The episode's main plot concerns a mass power outage at McKinley High, which inspires Will to have the New Directions work up "unplugged" versions of songs. You'll hear acoustic renditions of hits by Billy Joel , Queen , the Righteous Brothers and R.E.M. .
Meanwhile, Will tries to get to the bottom of Sue's departure from McKinley, since he doesn't know she took the heat for Becky's gun mishap. Sue is now working as an aerobics instructor, and in the episode, she performs a number from the Broadway show Annie , in a nod to the fact that in real life, Jane Lynch , who plays Sue, will be appearing on Broadway in that show starting next month.
Ryder's still trying to find out with whom he's in a Catfish -style romance, and he reveals an embarrassing secret to the rest of the glee club.
In New York, Sarah Jessica Parker returns as Isabelle, Kurt's mentor at Vogue.com. She asks Kurt to volunteer at a charity event, and he brings Rachel and Santana along. They all end up performing "At the Ballet" from the classic musical, A Chorus Line.
Glee airs Thursday night at 9:00 on Fox.
