WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Three Wausau area businesses got some special recognition yesterday at the annual Chamber of Commerce Business Expo.
The Boys and Girls Club, RMM Solutions and Young's Drug Store were this year's winners on the Small Business of the Year awards.
Young's Drug Store won in the business to consumer category. Owner Forest Young says Young's is a relatively new business to the area. "We've been working hard since 2002 when I bought the store. I changed the name to Young's Drug Store to honor my grandfather." Young says their business has boomed and they've been working to foster relationships with customers that they can't get from large chain stores.
The Boys and Girls Club won for the Non Profit category. Director Brian Stezenski-Williams says the win is an affirmation of all the work they've done for the community. "IT's a chance for us to tell people about the club, to celebrate the first 16 years, and to thank the folks who made it all possible." The club has grown from 500 members when it first opened on Scott Street to several thousand members in three locations.
RMM Solutions won in the Business to Business category. The company serves IT solutions to local businesses and helps companies forward with new technology.
All three will be honored this afternoon at the annual Recognition Luncheon at the Holiday Inn in Rothschild.
