Packers Keep Rodgers Fresh

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers looks for his receiver during the second half of their NFL football game against the Detroit Lio

GREEN BAY, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Green Bay Packers are trying to keep quarterback Aaron Rodgers fresher, by having him throw less at Training Camp. Rodgers had up to 70 snaps per practice a year ago, and he said that’s “tough on anybody.”

The Packer coaches are not saying how many fewer snaps he’s getting at this year’s camp. Rodgers expects to throw fewer passes during the regular season, as the Packers try to run the ball more.

He said he’s probably got the best group of running backs in his nine seasons in Green Bay. That includes second-round rookie Eddie Lacy, who had his first solid practice yesterday after almost a week off with a bad hamstring.

Meanwhile, coach Mike McCarthy says he’ll try to play all four of his quarterbacks again on Saturday night, when the Packers face Saint Louis in an exhibition. McCarthy has not divvied up the playing time yet – but veteran Vince Young is expected to get as much work as possible, so the team can get a better read on how he’s doing.

Graham Harrell will try to atone for a rough outing last week against Arizona, while fourth-stringer B-J Coleman tries to gain some ground in the race for the top back-up quarterback job.
