WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A man wanted for several crimes eluded police in Wausau Thursday afternoon.
Wausau Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near 5th Street and Adams Street. When the vehicle stopped, the driver got out of the vehicle and fled the scene. A passenger identified the driver as 24-year-old Peter K. Yang. Yang has several warrants for his arrest.
Police Detective Captain Greg Hagenbucher says Yang had absconded over a month ago from his obligations with the Department of Corrections Division of Community Corrections.
Officers also found a firearm inside the vehicle that had been stolen from Lincoln County. Officers did not say if the firearm was one of the many guns stolen from Statten’s General Store in Tomahawk early last October.
The owner of the car is 20-year-old Chelsey Orvis. She was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer.
Peter K. Yang is five-foot-three, has brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a polo shirt and shorts. If you know Yang’s whereabouts, you are encouraged to contact police and do not attempt to approach him. He may still have a weapon.
