SHAWANO, Wis. (WSAU) - About fifty dead animals were found in a Shawano area home. Police were called by a contractor that was sent to change the locks on a home that is being foreclosed on by the bank. The contractor made some unusual observations, and contacted police to investigate.
Police found about fifty dead animals in the home, which smelled of feces, urine, and dead carcasses.
Authorities were able to rescue about a dozen animals that were still alive, including chinchillas, birds, two dogs, two lizardss, and a 12-foot python.
Neighbors told investigators they haven’t seen the man who lives there in about a week.
