MADISON, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Wisconsin quarterback Tanner McEvoy has already shown that he can play at wide receiver. But today, coach Gary Andersen said some defensive assignments might not be out of the question. During a teleconference with Big Ten coaches, Andersen said McEvoy is so athletic, he needs to be on the field.
The junior college transfer played in both the receiver and defensive back positions in high school in New Jersey. Andersen said McEvoy’s days as a quarterback may still be ahead of him but quote, “He is talented enough, and he is definitely smart enough to affect the game in a positive way on Saturday.”
The Badgers open their season at home against U-Mass on Saturday.
