The end of the year means "Best-Of" lists galore, and Entertainment Weekly is now weighing with its picks for the top 10 singles and albums of the year.  While some of the choices are surprising, some of the year's biggest hits are also well represented.

On the magazine's list of the top 10 singles of the year, Daft Punk has clinched the #1 with "Get Lucky."   EW calls it "a deceptively simple, refreshingly organic tune" that "kept us dancing our derrieres off all summer."  The #2 spot belongs to Lorde 's "Royals," which the mag calls "utterly fantastic," praising its "snappy backbeat" and her "inimitable voice."

Others in the top 10 include Katy Perry' s "Roar," which has, according to EW, "the swagger of a song that knows it's a smash," and Rihanna 's "Stay," a "spare, achingly gorgeous piano ballad" that shows off Ri-Ri's "startling power and range."  Florida Georgia Line 's "Cruise (Remix)" is included as well, for its "pure brainless magic."

Over on the album side, Kanye West 's Yeezus takes the #1 spot, and the magazine says that on the album, he "exposes the rage of a wildly ambitious artist confounded by the wily shape of racism today."  Drake 's Nothing Was the Same is in at #2, thanks to its "taut," "elegant music."  Miley Cyrus ' Bangerz is in at #3, which EW describes as "13 songs that drive a stake through arbitrary notions of how a young woman and onetime tween star should conduct herself."

Other albums  in the magazine's top 10: Paramore 's self-titled disc, which EW calls "the best rock album of 2013," and discs by alt-rockers Vampire Weekend , rapper Pusha T and country star Kacey Musgraves .
