WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- It’s nearly Christmas, which is also the end of the semester for many colleges. Many students graduate at the end of the fall semester.
Northcentral Technical College has a commencement ceremony Saturday morning at Wausau East High School.
NTC’s Director of Student Development is Shawn Sullivan, who says around half of the graduates will be in caps and gown. “Well, totally, we have about 460 students that are eligible to graduate, and of those 460, I’d say approximately 230 will be attending the ceremony today.”
The technical college has many graduates going directly to the work force, as many have already accepted jobs in their chosen fields. Sullivan says the technical college does several things to help students go right from the classroom to the workplace. “We have a number of services that we provide our students all along through our placement and transfer office, whether it be mock interviews, job fairs, career fairs, transfer fairs, just opportunities for our students to get out and meet potential employers, and really have a good idea of what they want to do, so when they do graduate, they are ready to step into the next part of their life.”
Graduation is at 10:00 a.m. Forty-four percent of the graduates are finishing school with a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
