HATLEY, WI (WSAU) -  A large sport utility vehicle is sitting on the bottom of Pike Lake near Hatley. Authorities were called to the lake at about 1:30 p.m. when a witness saw a Suburban break through and sink. Two occupants of the vehicle were able to escape and crawl back onto the ice to safety.

The ice was about six inches thick where the heavy vehicle broke through. Department of Natural Resources officials say Pike Lake is about 30 feet deep in that spot.

The names of the occupants have not been released, but they are uninjured. They will have 30 days to have the vehicle removed from the lake.
