In what was considered by many to be a forgone conclusion, Adele has received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song for "Skyfall," the song from the James Bond film of the same name. The song, which Adele co-wrote with longtime collaborator Paul Epworth , has become the most successful Bond tune, chart-wise, in a decade.
"Skyfall" is also nominated in the same category at the Golden Globe Awards, which will be handed out this Sunday. Adele is expected to attend the ceremony. There has been speculation that she will perform "Skyfall" at the Oscars on February 24, but there have been no announcements regarding that as of yet.
All of the other music superstars nominated in the Best Original Song category at the Golden Globe Awards were shut out by the Academy. Jon Bon Jovi , Taylor Swift and Keith Urban , all of whom received nods for the Globes, were snubbed in the Oscar Best Original Song category. Adele is the only one who was honored by both award shows.
