MADISON, WI (WSAU) - The son of a former Schofield State Senator has won his appeal of a Madison judge’s restraining order.
The 4th District Court of Appeals yesterday ruled that Jeff Decker was exercising his right to protest the use of student fees. His protests included disrupting meetings, and parading around the Stevens Point campus in a mechanical dragon costume. A judge issued a restraining order to keep Decker off all UW campuses after a meeting with Chancellor Bernie Patterson. Police physically removed Decker from the Oshkosh campus in 2011 while handing out flyers.
The appellate court reversed Judge John Markson’s restraining order in a tightly worded six-page opinion. The court did not take up Decker’s other issues. The Attorney General’s office is reviewing the case to see if they want to appeal to the Supreme Court.
