STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) A man who was making fake $50 bills was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday. He'll be on probation for three years once his jail-time is up.

36-year-old Walter Wright III was arrested last September. Several business notices that the money he'd given them was counterfeit. Some refused to accept it. Others made the discovery while preparing their bank deposits. The fake bills were offered at Hardee's drive-through and at Big Hunchies Road House.

Wright was also charged with stealing donation boxes from area business that had money for charity inside. He's been ordered to pay more than $10,000 in restitution.
