STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) The U-W Stevens Point men’s basketball team has moved into the national Top-Five. The Pointers jumped two places to fifth in the new Division-Three poll from D-Three-Hoops-Dot-Com. The Pointers are 18-and-2 overall, and they extended their winning streak to eight games with victories over Superior and Whitewater.
The Warhawks’ loss dropped them to Number-15, after being 13th a week ago. Whitewater is now 15-and-4. Saint Norbert also received votes, as did Stout and Carroll. Rochester of New York is the new men’s Number-One. In the D-Three women’s poll, Stevens Point dropped one place to 16th with an overall mark of 16-and-4. U-W Superior fell out of the Top-25, after being 25th a week ago. The Yellow Jackets still received votes, as did Whitewater, Oshkosh, and Wisconsin Lutheran. DePauw remains the women’s Number-One.
