Wausau police looking for burglary victims in theft case

Deputy chief Bryan Hilts exp... (Download MP3)

WAUSAU, Wis .(WSAU) - Wausau police are looking for some more information into some possible burglaries in the area.

Police arrested a 22 year old man earlier this week after he was caught burglarizing a garage on the 1100 block of South 4th Avenue. Deputy police chief Bryan Hilts says a citizen called police about a suspicious vehicle on the block. "It's an alert citizen that got us this tip." When police arrived, they found the suspect in the process of breaking into a garage.

Police believe Andrew Fleurant may have burglarized other homes in the area due to the amount of items in his vehicle usually stored in garages: heaters, tools, fishing equipment, and other items.

Hilts says they're trying to find the owners of these items. "We're trying to find other people who had items taken, to be able to link them up to this burglar." Hilts says Fleurant may not have been operating solely in Wausau, but in other areas of the Wausau Metro or even surrounding communities.

If you're missing any items from your garage or shed, contact local authorities, or call Wausau PD at 715-261-7815.
