STRATFORD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Monday’s chain reaction crash that killed a Stratford woman was caused by a vehicle that did not slow down for the stopped vehicles ahead. Marathon County Sheriff’s investigators say 57-year-old Deborah Polzin died when her vehicle collided with another in the oncoming traffic lane. Investigators say speed and inattentive driving were factors for several of the drivers involved.
A pickup rear-ended a line of cars waiting for a truck to turn into a driveway, causing one of them to get pushed into the other traffic lane. Two cars and a motorcycle were able to safely stop. Four other vehicles made contact.
The names of the other drivers have not been released.
