Domestic Partnership policy language questions slow down approval

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Stevens Point will definitely add domestic partnership benefits for their city employees, but it will take a little more time.

The Personnel Committee had questions Monday for City Attorney Logan Beveridge and Comptroller-Treasurer Corey Laddick about the specific language to be used in the actual policy, and about the city’s potential cost if Domestic Partnership benefits are utilized. Laddick explained that the cost is just over 13-thousand dollars for each partner covered, but it’s unknown how many would actually be claimed.

The committee also questioned possible penalties if an employee made false statements on their affidavit of eligibility, and they wanted specific language about the new policy before voting.

Laddick and Beveridge were directed to bring that specific language back next month for the committee’s consideration. That means the full city council won’t be voting on the specific policy language this month.
