MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) - Students in Marshfield will be paying more to participate in school sports next school year. That’s following the approval of an increase in athletic fees by Marshfield’s School Board Wednesday night.
The plan more than doubles the athletic fees, but school board member Mark Critelli says the new fees are comparable to most other school districts in the area.
At the middle school level, the current $10.00 fee increases to $25.00 per sport with a $50.00 cap; and the increase is from $15.00 to $40.00 per sport for high school students with an $80.00 cap.
The change is expected to affect about 1,500 students and generate around $30,000 in additional revenue for capital improvement projects including repairs to the middle school track.
