GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAU) - Blood donations are down right now, and several organizations are encouraging all of us to donate due to a blood shortage.
One Green Bay man is certainly doing his part.
Bill Waerzeggers has been donating blood and platelets regularly since 1970. On Friday, he was recognized for donating his 100th gallon of blood. That comes out to three trips every two months, although many of them were for platelets only.
Waerzeggers has type O-negative blood, which is the universal donor. Anyone in need can use his blood.
