East Hires New Hockey Coach



WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Wausau East High School announces the hiring of George Oien as Head Boy’s Hockey Coach. Oien takes over for Dan Bauer who resigned the position following the 2012-13 hockey season. Mr. Oien will also be a physical education teacher at Wausau East High School.


Coach Oien has coached in several capacities at various schools in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was an All-Conference performer at Brady High School in West St. Paul, MN and has also served as an assistant coach there. Coach Oien has been a part of the youth hockey program in the St. Paul area for many years. Additionally, Oien served as a head high school soccer for 13 years in both boys and girls programs with 7 state tournament berths, two state tournament runner-up finishes, and 10 conference championships to his credit.

Additionally, he has the background and successful experience that will further enhance our hockey program in the years to come.”
