WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - The teenage driver that crashed near Stratford, seriously injuring two of his friends, has made an appearance in court.
17-year-old Nathan Koller of Edgar was allegedly intoxicated May 30th when he crashed near Stratford on Highway M near Blackberry Street. The vehicle went into a ditch, then hit the embankment of the crossroad and became airborne, rolling multiple times after landing.
Koller was ejected from the vehicle. A male front seat passenger ended up in the back seat, and the female riding in back was able to climb from the wreckage and seek help. One of the passengers told officers Koller had driven recklessly in excess of 120 miles-per-hour at times.
Koller required surgery for a broken back and was in a coma at the hospital. He has entered a not guilty plea, and will be back in court July 29th. Koller is now free on a five-thousand dollar signature bond, and cannot have contact with the two victims.
