Family pastor says Isaiah Theis had keys with him inside trunk

DRESSER, Wis. (WSAU) - A family pastor says a 2 year old who died in the trunk of a car in Polk County had the keys to the vehicle with him.

Rev. Rick Van Gundy told the Associated Press that Isaiah Theis had that key and a set of several others on him when he was found in the trunk of a vehicle on Wednesday. Van Gundy says the boy's family told him about the keys, but didn't want to give more information because of the sensitive situation.

Deputies found the boy's body in the trunk of a vehicle at the father's auto repair shop. Preliminary autopsy reports show that Theis died of hyperthermia, where the body spikes with too high of a temperature.

Investigators have not said how the boy might have gotten into the trunk. Officials had been assuming the boy had wandered off to play with his brother, something the toddler had done on previous occasions.

Funeral arrangements in the case are still pending.
