MAUSTON, WI (WSAU) - The man accused of shooting two women Friday behind a Mauston bar is being held on a two million dollar bond. The incident took place behind P.J.s Bar and Grill in Mauston Friday just after midnight.
29-year-old Cody Treul of Mauston has been charged with two counts of first degree homicide and one count of recklessly endangering safety. 29-year-old Gail Howland died. Mauston Police Chief Mark Messer says 23-year-old Ebony Lasher was flown to UW-Madison Hospital for treatment.
Witnesses that knew Treul and the victims have said they don’t know what started the incident. The criminal complaint says several witnesses saw Treul shooting at the two women. Howland is Treul's ex-girlfriend.
Treul is to make his initial court appearance June 19. Attorneys will offer motions to the court Thursday.
