STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) - The public can participate in person or online Saturday as the Department of Natural Resources hosts another meeting on future deer herd management. The meeting is at the UW-Stevens Point Dreyfus University Center starting at 10:00 a.m.
DNR Deer Trustee Report Implementation Coordinator Eric Lobner says the report’s author, Dr. James Kroll will be there. He says there will also be four action teams that have drafted proposals on how to move forward with 32 of the report’s 49 recommendations that relate directly to enhancing management practices.
Lobner says this is the midway point as they prepare to implement new deer herd management practices and rules in 2014.
The morning portion of the meeting will be webcasted live online, and online participants will have the option to submit questions via their computers for panel response throughout the presentations.
The proposals can be viewed by visiting dnr.wi.gov and using the search keywords “Deer Trustee Report.” Click on each Action Team’s link to see the four proposals.
