Former lawmaker Gary Sherman announces run for appellate court judge

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A former state lawmaker who’s been an appeals court judge since 2010 wants to keep that job for another six years.

Gary Sherman says he’ll run next spring for his first full term on the Fourth District Appellate Court.

Sherman is from Port Wing in Bayfield County. He represented that area for a dozen years as a Democrat in the Assembly before former Governor Jim Doyle appointed him to replace retiring judge Burnie Bridge.

The court is based in Madison and serves two dozen counties in southern and central Wisconsin.

Sherman is a past president of the state Bar Association, with a law degree from UW-Madison.
