ADAMS COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - State officials say endangered lizards could be killed by a proposed installation of fiber-optic phone cables – but it would not threaten the state’s population as a whole.
The DNR is taking public comments through July 12th on a permit request for the Marquette-Adams Telephone Co-op. It wants to install 36 miles of fiber-optic cables in Adams County.
The DNR says slender glass lizards live in the area, and the project could kill some of them.
Officials say the impact should be minimal, and an environmental monitor would move as many lizards out of the way just before construction equipment moves in.
