MENOMONIE, WI (WTAQ) - A search continued Wednesday morning for a Minneapolis man presumed dead after the semi-truck he was in plunged into the Red Cedar River off Interstate 94 near Menomonie.
The driver of the rig was pulled from the river late Tuesday morning. He’s been identified as 25-year-old Batrodin Siyad of Minneapolis.
His co-driver, 26-year-old Mohammed Malin of Minneapolis, was still missing at last word.
Both were in a semi owned by Dashman’s Transport of Lansing Michigan.
The State Patrol said the truck was heading west on I-94 when it went over a bridge and into the river below, submerged in up to 30 feet of water. It happened around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday.
State Patrol officials said lanes on the Interstate at Highway 25 may be temporarily blocked Wednesday, as the search for Malin continues.
Drivers are urged to use caution. The deaths were the only two reported in Wisconsin from Tuesday’s snowstorm, which dumped up to nine inches.
