WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - A Wausau man charged in the beating death of Kerby Kneiss made a court appearance Monday.

18 year old Zachary Froehlich was in court for a motion hearing Monday. He's charged with multiple felonies, including first degree reckless homicide with a dangerous weapon, armed robbery, armed burglary, and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

At the hearing, Froehlich's attorney asked for more time to file some motions, and brought up that a July trial date may not work out, seeing as prosecutor Lance Leonhart will be out on family leave around that time. A calendar date has been set for April 10 to schedule a new motion hearing.

Police say Froelich and 20-year-old Warren Krohn broke into the home of 49-year-old Kerby Kneiss in June of 2012 with the intent to rob or steal from his garage, and beat him to death instead. They then took liquor, cigarettes and some cash from the property. Krohn claims that Froelich was the one to actually beat Kneiss to death.

Froehlich remains in jail on a $250,000 cash bond.
