MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Parking rules have changed in Marshfield. The Common Council has approved a revision to the city’s street parking ordinance.
The revised ordinance is designed to keep roads open for emergency vehicles as they try to navigate through narrow residential neighborhoods. According to Marshfield Police Chief Gary Jepsen, “The side of the street that a vehicle can be parked on will alternate depending on whether it’s an even or odd numbered month.”
The new regulations will apply to both daytime and nighttime parking from May through October. During the winter months overnight parking will still be prohibited due to snow removal issues.
All overnight street parking had previously been prohibited in Marshfield, unless a request was made to the police notifying them of a special circumstance or need.
