RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) -  The Rhinelander man accused of attacking a woman in a car will be spending time in prison. 38-year-old Shannon Wolf was charged with strangulation and suffocation, battery, use of a dangerous weapon and first degree reckless endangerment, plus an attempted homicide charge.

In a plea deal Thursday, Wolf was found guilty of mayhem and aggravated battery instead of attempted homicide, and the other charges will be dismissed but read in at the time of sentencing. Prosecutors are recommending 15 years in prison plus 15 years of extended supervision for the mayhem charge, and another 6 years in prison for the aggravated battery charge.

A presentence investigation has been ordered by the court. Wolf will be sentenced May 24th at 10:00 am.

On February 12th, 2012, Wolf forced a car to pull over, and attacked his estranged wife near the Hodag statue in Rhinelander .
