John Mayer 's going back out on tour.  During a Google-plus hangout sponsored by Billboard Thursday night,   Mayer told fans his voice has fully recovered from the throat granuloma that sidelined him and he's ready to launch his first major concert tour in three years.

Mayer will hit 40 cities in four different countries during a tour in support of his 2012 album Born and Raised . Last year, Mayer was forced to cancel an entire tour in support of the album due to his vocal issues.

The tour officially kicks off July 6 at Milwaukee's SummerFest, but Mayer will perform two warm-up shows: April 25 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and April 26 at the New Orleans' Jazz Fest.   The tour continues into October.  American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will be the opening act for most of the dates.
