Finley To Return For Pack

GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU)Green Bay Packers’ tight end Jermichael Finley will stay around for at least one more season. The Packers met a three p-m deadline yesterday for paying a three-million dollar roster bonus that Finley was due to get. And they reportedly made no moves toward cutting Finley’s salary of eight-and-a-quarter million dollars for the final year of his current two-year deal.

The five-year pro fell out of favor early last season after dropping a large number of passes. But he had a strong finish, and set a Packers’ record for catches by a tight end with 61.

Finley, who turns 26 today, said earlier that his prospects of staying with the team were probably 50-50. But after they lost backup tight end Tom Crabtree to Tampa and receiver Greg Jennings to Minnesota, Finley became more a keeper in Green Bay – at least for 2013.
