MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) The normally powerful Milwaukee lineup produced just three hits in a 7-2 exhibition loss to the White Sox at Miller Park Friday night. One of the hits was a fourth-inning, two-run homer by Ryan Braun. Braun’s one-out blast to left came with one out and Norichika Aoki on base.
Even though he took the loss, started Wily Peralta was relatively happy with his outing. He allowed four runs in four and a third innings, with two of them earned. Peralta struck out three and walked three, while allowing four hits. The Milwaukee Brewers have officially named right hander Mike Fiers their fifth starter, even though his spring training efforts have been uneven.
The decision means the Brewers won’t have a lefty in the rotation at the start of the season and Chris Narveson will start off in the bullpen. Narveson will be the team’s long reliever. The lefty last pitched in a major league game 50 weeks ago, April 15th of last year. His 2012 season was ended when he had surgery May 1st.
