UWSP Track & Field take 4th of 11 at Naperville Friday

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (UWSP) – The UW-Stevens Point men's and women's outdoor track & field teams opened the 2013 season on Friday afternoon at the First Chance Meet, hosted by North Central College.

The UWSP women finished fourth of 11 teams at the event while the men's team finished seventh.

Highligts from the day for the women included:

Jasmine Haines (East Troy, WI/East Troy) won the women's 200-meter dash, posting a time of 25.98. Haines also finished third in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 12.99.

Ana Breit (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Pacelli) finished as runner-up in the 1500-meter run with her time of 4:50.03.

Julia Colling (Maplewood, MN/North) had the top time in the 5000-meter run, posting a time of 18:26.92.

Alexa Lewin (Appleton, WI/Freedom) finished third in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in a time of 16.09.

The Pointers finished 2-5 in the 400-meter hurdles, led by Becky Vosters (Little Chute, WI/Little Chute) 1:10.84.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Aryn DeGrave (Big Bend, WI/Mukwonago), Ana Breit (Wisconsin Rapids, WI/Pacelli),

Danielle Muntner (Wild Rose, WI/Wild Rose) and Haines finished third, posting a time of 4:10.86.

Maggie Martin (Chilton, WI/Chilton) finished third in the women's shot put with her toss of 11.66 meters (38' 3.25”)

Top finishers on the men's side:

Daniel Ostrowski (Wautoma, WI/Wautoma) finished third in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 49.74.

Terry Witkowski (Wales, WI/Kettle Moraine ) finished fourth in the 5000-meter run, posting a time of 15:41.31.

The Pointers return to action on April 5, weather permitting, at the UW-Whitewater outdoor meet.
