Prosecution rests in Clark murder case Wednesday

FRIENDSHIP, WI (WSAU) - The Adams County man on trial for killing his mother told investigators, “She was going to kill me.”

That’s what 61-year-old Larry Clark told deputies as soon as he learned officers found his mother Marcella’s remains. The jury heard that in a recorded interview during yesterday’s third day of the trial.

Clark is accused of shooting and killing his mother, hiding her corpse in a tarp in the nearby woods, lying about her death, and using her financial accounts for his own use.

The prosecution rested its case Wednesday. The defense will now have its chance to convince the jury.

Attorney James Connell may try to show Adams County investigators did not follow proper procedures. Connell has mentioned former Adams County Investigator Mark Bitsky several times already. Bitsky resigned after being placed on administrative leave for mishandling evidence. One such piece of evidence was a calendar taken from the Clark residence that was found on Bitsky’s desk.
