She's said it before but now she's saying it again: Demi Lovato did not date Niall Horan from One Direction .  And what's more, she doesn't care about the love life of another One Direction member -- and his famous ex-girlfriend -- either.

Demi covers the June issue of Company magazine , and inside she says she's sick of celebrities being under the microscope when it comes to their romances.  "I’m so tired of that!" she says of the Niall rumors.  "It never happened.  Niall’s a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it’s never crossed that line… He’s a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we’re just friends.”

When asked what she thinks of Niall's band mate Harry Styles and his relationship with Taylor Swift , Demi states emphatically, "I don’t care about Taylor Swift’s love life.  I don’t care about Harry Styles' love life.  I care about mine. I find it weird that people are so obsessed with other people’s love lives!”

Demi also opens up about learning the meaning of true friendship after her stint in rehab.

"A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there.  It was full of people who I considered my closest friends," she tells Company.   "When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls.  I had four texts.  That was a wake-up call."

She adds, "I don’t have loads of friends.  I used to, but then I realized, do any of them actually care?  Now I have people who, if I break my leg in the middle of the night, they’ll come to the hospital with me.  Or they’ll answer the phone at 4 a.m. if I need them.  Most of my friends are not in the industry."

Because of her personal struggles, and her ability to move between the worlds of TV and music so easily, Demi is a role model to millions of young women, and she tells Company that it's something she's learned to accept.

"I used to think I didn’t choose to be a role model, but time went by and I was like, 'Tough sh*t, you’re a role model whether you like it or not,'" she recalls.  "So I learned to take it seriously because my actions influence other people.”

The full interview appears in Company's June issue, on sale May 8.  Go behind the scenes with Demi at Company.co.uk/demi-lovato .
