EAU CLAIRE, WI (WSAU-LEARFIELD) Wausau West grad Amanda Fischer of U-W Eau Claire has been named the W-I-A-C softball position player-of-the-year, and Katie Boyle of Whitewater is the league’s pitcher-of-the-year.
Fischer, a sophomore catcher and outfielder, was also named to the All-Conference first team for the second year in a row. She leads the W-I-A-C with 29 stolen bases. Fischer also leads her Eau Claire team with six homers and a .644 slugging percentage. She has hit safely in 27 straight games.
Boyle, a senior right-hander, also received her second straight All-Conference bid. She leads the conference with a one-point-two-three E-R-A, and is second with 16 wins.
Ashley Martin of Superior, Emily Epifanio of Whitewater, and Sarah Fern of Eau Claire were given their third all-conference selections. Katie Koepsel of Oshkosh and Hayley Buchanan of River Falls were named for the second straight year.
Cindy Seuss of Oshkosh was named the league’s coach-of-the-year with 25 wins – the most for the Titans since 2008. Ashley Goettl of River Falls is the sport’s top scholar-athlete.
