MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Brewers’ first baseman Corey Hart had his first day of field running since an operation on his right knee last winter. He also took batting practice at Miller Park. Hart opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and was moved later to the 60-day D-L.
Manager Ron Roenicke says Hart will have a minor league rehab assignment as early as May 30th, but it would more likely be the first week in June. Hart says he has worked himself back into game-shape with a lot of cardio-vascular work. Now, he says the challenge is to get his timing back – and to make sure the injured knee is ready to go.
Hart plans to join the Brewers on their next road trip, which begins a week from tomorrow night at Minnesota. Hart says he’s anxious to return, especially because the Brewers are not playing well – but at the same time, he knows he cannot overdo it.
